　　an opening flower,
: T9 K/ f# c, c; o　　绽放的鲜花，
　　a town at night,
　　夜幕中的小镇，
7 H/ M, K, S, X7 F% t7 P5 ^　　the song of the blackbird,
1 e8 A' c/ i; r( B3 ~　　优美的诗行，
, G# P0 t% u' @& Q% `: r　　a lovely poem,
( p8 y3 h1 v" e' c2 S$ @; d$ X8 B* M$ a　　可爱的诗人
　　leaf shadows,
　　婆娑的树影，
& k' C7 B& M! m3 Q* R& L2 n' F　　a child’s grace,
- D( j" {0 Y; F2 D& d　　孩童的烂漫，
% M7 w0 |' V* W, n" g+ [, }　　the starry skies,
　　漫天的繁星
) D: T0 c0 j& ~: g' z; t　　apple trees in spring,
　　春天的果树，
　　sheep-bells on a hill,
　　山上的羊铃声，
　　a rippling stream,
" \: B3 W0 Q8 \　　一道潺潺流水，
　　a butterfly,
2 o' C$ e+ o3 }; O# d- L* ]2 N, T: k　　一只蝴蝶 ，
5 s! U8 x; g$ l1 j) Q6 K　　the crescent moon,
+ E; |& }8 \1 l7 O0 P　　这个新月，
2 G& U4 l. J! j　　the thousand sights or sounds or words
% y- c, y8 i' v7 i　　that evoke in us the thought of beauty —
　　这些使我们潜生美感的万千景象，音籁和词句
& l( l  a1 F- j6 T& N　　these are the drops of rain
; |" ^" G  w2 A　　that keep the human spirit from death by drought.
/ {# @( ?3 d3 o　　仿佛雨露般滋润着我们干涸的心田。
* f( U- D# e; |- _5 \$ d$ ?　　They are a stealing and silent refreshment
　　它们悄然而来
0 L& W6 \0 M) K3 L; `4 h& S& @　　that we perhaps do not think about,
  _2 w9 s& |7 C' L* ?9 @; f　　在我们不经意中荡涤尘寰
　　but which goes on all the time.
　　绵延不断
　　Beauty is the smile on the earth’s face,
, f0 ~7 s+ R. F* O& d0 Y　　美是大地的笑容，
　　open to all, and needs but the eyes to see,
- s) K- W7 [  y( e3 j　　the mood to understand.
